"Mutual Sleep" is a project that seeks to find patterns in strangers' dreams. It gives a particular focus to our subconscious experiences of gender. The project incorporates dream descriptions from personal journals, anonymous forums, and The DreamBank, an online database of over 20,000 dreams collected between 1912 and 2007 for the UC Psychology Department. The database gives the dreamers brief descriptors such as Joan: a lesbian, Chris: a transvestite, Pegasus: a factory worker, Dorothea: 53 years of dreams, Ed: dreams of his late wife, etc. The dreams have been edited, the names removed, and the dates randomized.

Fox Rinne is a trans poet, prison abolitionist, and preschool teacher based in New York City. They have facilitated poetry workshops through the Queer Detainee Empowerment Program, the Right-to-Write program at the Westchester County Jail, and the Arts in the Afternoon program at the Yonkers YWCA. Their writing has been most recently published in Silent Auctions Magazine and Unsaid Magazine. Their latest recurrent dream is one where they are carrying a lost cat around, unsure where it came from or what to do with it.
